All set for tomorrow’s Governor’s Tourism Cup

All is set for the 3rd Annual Governor’s Tourism Cup Golf Tournament that will be held this Saturday on the east course of the Laolao Bay Golf & Resort.

The Office of the Governor and the Marianas Visitors Authority are co-hosting the tournament that will have a teetime at 7:30am.

“Golfers have until 5pm today to sign up for the tournament,” tournament director James Nelson said. “Interested golfers can sign up at the Marianas Visitors Authority or at the Laolao Bay Golf & Resort. We expect great weather as Typhoon Jebi passes over the Northern Mariana Islands.”

This year’s major sponsors are DFS T-Galleria, the Tan Siu Lin Foundation, Hyatt Regency Saipan, IT&E, J.C. Tenorio Enterprises and United Airlines, donating $3,000 or more in cash and prizes. Classic sponsors Bank of Guam, IP&E, Mar Pac, Marianas Variety, and Power 99 have all made generous contributions of $2,000 or more in cash, prizes and services.

For hole-in-one prizes, Triple J Motors has put up a 2018 Mazda 3i Sport Plus, Pacifica Insurance has $5,000 up for grabs, and Joeten Motors will have a 2018 Nissan Rogue Sport.

Classic contributors with donations of $1,000 include First Hawaiian Bank, Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan, Island Training Solutions, Bank of Saipan, and McDonald’s of Saipan.

Other donors to the tournament include the Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands, Micronesian Brokers, Joeten Super Store, Lao Lao Bay Golf & Resort, Pacific Islands Club Saipan, The Water Company, Kensington Hotel, Triple J Truckload Store, AON Insurance, Roil Soil, and the Tournament of Champions.

“As with every tournament, golfers look forward to the famous hot dog stands. This feature is made possible through the generous donation of fresh baked buns from Herman’s Modern Bakery and Nathan’s Hot Dogs by Triple J 5-Star Wholesale and. Herman’s Modern Bakery and Triple J 5-Star Wholesale also donated the morning snacks for golfers to enjoy,” MTEC chair Vicky Benavente said.

MTEC was formed in 2002 to heighten the community’s awareness of the importance of the islands’ tourism industry.

This year’s entry fee is $100 and includes cart and green fees, morning snacks, free flowing on-course refreshments and awards banquet. Participants can also look forward to the nearest to the pin and longest drive competitions. (PR)
