CEC has had no problems with 5 tabulators

The Commonwealth Election Commission has not had any problems with the five tabulating machines it purchased in 2003, according to CEC executive director Julita Villagomez.

Villagomez said the machine, despite their age—15 years old—are very accurate and fast. The equipment were purchased from Election Systems and Software in Nebraska.

For this Nov. 6 general election, ESS will be sending technician to service the five counting machines, Villagomez said. The technician may arrive days close to the election.

Normally, the technician will just clean the machines and change the rubber parts, she said.

CEC has been using three machines for Saipan, and one machine each for Tinian and Rota.

The machines are stored at CEC’s office.
