The Marianas Alliance for Non-Governmental Organizations, in partnership with the Office of Minority Health Resource Center, is hosting its annual “Nonprofit Capacity Building Conference” on Wednesday, Aug. 29, and Thursday, Aug. 30.

The purpose of the conference is to connect nonprofit leaders and advocates to resources that will ultimately help them build capacity for their mission-critical operations.

MANGO invites all nonprofit employees, board members, and volunteers who are interested in increasing their organization’s capacity to attend.

Registration is on Wednesday and Thursday, from 7:30am to 8am.

Session 1 on Wednesday, Aug. 29, will take up board development: roles and responsibilities from 8am to 12pm. Session 2 from 1pm to 4pm is about board stewardship: fiscal responsibility.

Session 3 on Thursday, Aug. 30, from 8am to noon, is about fundraising and resource development. Session 4 from 1pm to 4pm is about program management.

Participation in each session is free, and lunch is provided to participants who attend two sessions per day. Registration is limited to 30 participants per session. Only two participants per nonprofit organization can register per session.

RSVP as soon as possible; registration closes at 12pm on Tuesday, Aug. 28, but seats will fill up quickly. RSVP by emailing cnmimango@gmail.com.

MANGO’s principal purpose is to serve as an umbrella organization and resource for CNMI non-profits to promote and provide leadership, advocacy, educational awareness, and technical assistance to its members and the community. MANGO was chartered and licensed by the CNMI Corporate Registrar in December 2010, and is the umbrella entity for all NGOs in the NMI.

MANGO is also a member of PIANGO, or the Pacific Islands Association of Non-Government Organization, a coalition of islanders dedicated to “strengthening and building the capacity of the civil society sector.”
