In anticipation of an “All Clear” to be declared sometime this morning and to ensure the safety of our government employees and their families, please be advised that all government offices on Saipan and Tinian will reopen today, Aug. 21, at 12:30pm. Accordingly, non-critical government employees shall report to work at that time.

Based on the latest weather update from the National Weather Service on Guam as of 5am, tropical storm warnings for Saipan and Tinian are now cancelled.

“Despite Typhoon Cimaron no longer posing a threat to Saipan and Tinian, I advise residents to maintain necessary precautionary measures for gusty winds and heavy rain showers associated with feeder band activity from the tail winds of the storm,” said Gov. Ralph DLG Torres.

The CNMI Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, through the CNMI Emergency Operations Center State Warning Point, will maintain 24-hour operation, monitor the movement of Tropical Storm Cimaron and will be issuing bulletins as they become available.

Additionally, HSEM advises to keep a close watch on updates to weather forecasts and stay informed on the latest statements and advisories which will be available through local media sources and NOAA Weather radio broadcast on 162.5 megahertz, or call the CNMI EOC State Warning Point at 237-8000 or 664-8000, and for the Northern Islands to contact CNMI EOC State warning point at high frequency single side band radio on frequency 5.205.0.
