13 students here for English camp

Thirteen students from different schools in South Korea are visiting Saipan for a monthlong English program that would not only teach them to master the English language, but would also allow for an exchange of culture, perspective, and knowledge.
The 13 students are attending the Costa World Tour English Camp.
Last year, 12 Korean students visited the CNMI under the same program, said Costa World Tour president Yeon Tae Choi yesterday.
“They experience American schools and American English as well as share outdoor activities and exchange cultural information,” Choi said.
It not only allows the students to practice their English but also changes their daily routine. Choi said the program also teaches the students about the Chamorro and Carolinian cultures.
The students usually come to Saipan either during summer or winter.
Choi noted that the 13 students hail from all over South Korea and not from one specific school and that they visited Saipan Mayor David M. Apatang on Tuesday.
According to Saipan Mayor’s Office student exchange coordinator Yuki Kishimoto, the students arrived to Saipan on July 30, 2018.
They are scheduled to depart Saipan on Aug. 26, 2018. Before then, the students would be doing a beach cleanup at Sugar Dock on Saturday.
