Thanks to the House

I want to offer a sincere thanks to the House of Representatives from myself and many others in the community for your efforts last week to expedite Senate Bill 20-62 for the legalization of marijuana. While there was a technical issue that requires revenue-generating bills to originate in the House, the offer by Rep. Joe Guerrero to re-introduce the bill as a House bill speaks volumes to the intent of the House leadership to expedite the bill.

It was very clear that an overwhelming majority of our representatives are in favor of the bill and it will surely pass as a House version. The need to make it a House bill is a minor setback. I am just glad the House did not sit on the bill; it only took two months for them to get it to the floor. A special thanks to Speaker Rafael Demapan and committee chair Ivan Blanco in expediting this bill through the process and getting it to the floor for a vote.
