BTS photobook to feature the Marianas
International recording sensation and K-pop boy band BTS shot their photobook on location in the Marianas on May 23-29, 2018, in this western Pacific beach resort destination.
BTS, also known as Bangtan Boys, is the first K-pop group to clinch a Billboard Music Award, winning the Top Social Artist Award in 2017 and 2018. The group also won Best Boy Band Award during the 2018 iHeartRadio Music Awards and Asia New Artist of the Year Award during the Japan Gold Disc Awards in 2018.
The Marianas Visitors Authority helped arrange the photo shoot as part of their continuing media familiarization tour negotiations aimed at increasing international public awareness of the Marianas
“The K-pop phenomenon has once again reached the shores of the Marianas,” said Marianas Visitors Authority managing director Christopher A. Concepcion. “BTS has gained worldwide fame through the many international awards they’ve won in the U.S., Korea, Japan, Europe, Asia, and beyond. The MVA is ecstatic to have secured this visit by BTS, which was not an easy task. We had many meetings leading up to this visit to ensure security and comfort of the group was guaranteed so we thank our partners for their cooperation and support.”
BTS has 7.2 million followers on Facebook and is composed of members RM, Jin, Suga, Jhop, Jimin, V, and Jungkook.
“I’ll be honest that I wasn’t aware of how huge of a fan base BTS had in the U.S. and around the world,” said Concepcion. “Their fans are apparently known as the ‘ARMY,’ which I find fascinating. I was able to personally greet BTS and presented each of them with commemorative gifts from the Marianas. I thanked them for choosing to visit our islands and invited them to visit us again in the future
The group’s annual photobook, a popular product for fans, will feature various sites and activities in the Marianas, including Marpi, snorkeling at Grotto with Saipan Adventure, Ladder Breach, Jetovator with Let’s Go Tour, a UTV jungle tour with Marianas Trekking, a Japanese-era historic lighthouse, and Aqua Resort Club. The group also dined at The Shack and Surf Club.
The BTS 2018 Summer Package V.4 is now available for pre-order and will be released on Aug. 14, 2018. (MVA)
