Kapono CD now available
CDs available exclusively at FHB branches
HAGATÑA, Guam—Grammy nominated and award-winning entertainer Henry Kapono announced yesterday that his The Songs of C&K album is now available.
Produced in partnership with First Hawaiian Bank, the album is available in CD format, with digital download for $20, exclusively at FHB Hawaii, Guam and Saipan branches through Sept. 25, with the net proceeds from the album’s sale to benefit the Henry Kapono Foundation.
A limited vinyl edition will be available for $25 in mid-August at select FHB branches.
On the recording, Kapono brings together some of Hawaii’s most talented artists featuring Alx Kawakami, Blayne Asing, Josh Tatofi, Kalani Pe’a, Kimié Miner, Landon McNamara, Mike Love, Paula Fuga, Starr Kalahiki and Tavana.
On the 45th anniversary of the group C&K, the recording will feature classics from Kapono’s career, which have become anthems for the people of Hawaii, a veritable soundtrack for local life over the last four decades. The project features Kapono reimagining his most iconic songs in collaboration with 10 of Hawaii’s next generation of rising musicians.
A Native Hawaiian, Kapono is an award-winning vocalist, guitarist, songwriter, and composer. He is one of Hawaii’s most popular recording artists and is equally known for his community support and philanthropic endeavors.
After a lifetime of support for local causes, Kapono has created the HKF, an organization whose mission is “to support and strengthen our community through music and the arts and by giving with Aloha.” The HKF will support local organizations with a primary focus on local arts, culture and music.
FHB (www.FHB.com) was founded in 1858 as Bishop & Co. and today is Hawaii’s leading bank. It operates 56 branches in Hawaii, three on Guam and two on Saipan. (PR)
