Ex-chiefs of Rota DPS Rota Health file candidacies for mayor
All 5 candidates for Rota mayoral seat are in
All five candidates for the Rota mayoral race are in as the remaining two—former Rota Department of Public Safety resident director Richard Evangelista Taisacan and former Rota Health Center resident director Crispin M. Ayuyu—filed yesterday their candidacies as independent.
Taisacan and Ayuyu submitted their petitions for nomination to a Commonwealth Election Commission board member representing Rota.
Incumbent mayor Efraim M. Atalig (R-Rota) is seeking re-election. The other candidates battling for the mayoral seat are Senator Steve K. Mesngon (R-Rota) and Julie Ogo Manglona (Indpendent), who is the founder of the charitable group “Luta Cares.”
Simeon Evangelista Taisacan filed yesterday his candidacy as a non-partisan for Rota Municipal Council.
Former Marianas Public Lands Authority board chair Ana Demapan-Castro also filed yesterday her candidacy as a non-partisan for Saipan/Northern Islands Municipal Council.
Last week, Mariano Deleon Guerrero Fajardo filed his candidacy as an independent for House of the Representatives precinct 3.
Precinct 3 covers Oleai and Garapan.
Meanwhile, CEC will conduct a workshop about campaign financial disclosure at the Tinian Public Library on Tuesday, Aug. 7, from 5pm to 6:30pm.
CEC urged candidates and their treasurers to attend the workshop that will discuss Ethics Act, campaign finance, and Election Reform Act.
CEC will also be accepting candidacy petition at the Tinian Public Library on Aug. 8 from 7:30am to 4:30pm.
CEC will conduct the same workshop at the Northern Marianas College Rota on Aug. 28 from 5pm to 6:30pm.
