A man was arrested last week for allegedly throwing a can of beer at his girlfriend during a drinking session with a friend at his house in Chalan Kanoa.

Joaquin Sablan Delos Santos Jr., 49, who works as a steel man with Pacific Rim Constructors, was taken to the Superior Court Friday afternoon on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon.

Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho allowed his temporary release to a third-party custodian on a $5,000 unsecured bond. Preliminary hearing will be on Aug. 2 at 1:30pm.

According to police, a responding police officer saw the victim with a laceration on her forehead. The alleged victim told the officer that her boyfriend, Delos Santos, hit her face with a newly opened can of beer.

Delos Santos left the house before the officers came. He was later arrested.

The alleged victim was brought by medics to the Commonwealth Health Center for treatment.

She told police that Delos Santos threw the beer can at her head as he was about three to four feet away from her. She felt blood running down her face. She then asked her nephew, who was in the house, to call for an ambulance.
