Yesterday’s Walk to Remember was successful as about 60 members of the local community and Rotary Club of Saipan took part in the yearly event to pay respects to their lost loved ones.
We Remember Them CNMI’s Jill Derickson thanked everyone who took part in the event that started from the Minatchom Atdao Pavilion to the Atkins Kroll Intersection in Oleai and back.
“July is Parents Awareness Month. It’s to help the community to understand what bereaved parents go through. This is a Walk to Remember for our loved ones and we are going to have a 15-minute walk to think about our loved ones,” she said prior to the event.
Derrickson added that the annual Walk to Remember gives prominence to the children that passed away by giving families their loved one’s portrait. Participants of the walk also shared dishes for everybody to eat.
Walk to Remember coordinator Tania Mendiola said this year’s event was more successful than previous years.
“Since we do have a lot of parents and loved ones out here, it was very successful compared to the last couple of years,” she said.
