NMTI seeks help from SHEFA

The Northern Marianas Trade Institute is requesting funding from the Saipan Higher Education Financial Assistance.

At a SHEFA meeting yesterday at the Saipan Mayor’s Office, it was disclosed that NMITA sent the scholarship office a letter requesting for open enrollment for its students.

SHEFA administrator Merissa S. Rasa said there are currently 12 SHEFA applicants enrolled at the trades school

SHEFA chair Oscar M. Babauta said that NMTI is not the same as other normal institutions.

The scholarship office, however, approved NMTI’s request to waive the deadline for supporting documents, knowing that classes will still be taken within the term dates (fall and spring semesters).

Saipan Mayor David M. Apatang, meantime, told SHEFA that he learned that a lot of NMTI students miss the opportunity to apply for SHEFA scholarship.

Unlike other schools on island, NMTI is a trades school.
