Eighteen International Thespian Society CNMI team members came home with Superior Medals, along with four perfect scores in the national individual events, in last month’s International Thespian Festival in Lincoln, Nebraska.

The junior and senior troupes where among the 4,000 participants at the annual event where some 11th graders also succeeded in their college auditions.

Brothers Jonathan and Lars Wolf of Dandan Middle School led the team with two Superior Medals in junior duet acting and one excellent award, while Juliet Inocencio, also of DMS, had a Superior and two excellent ratings in solo musical theatre.

Hopwood Middle School’s Edgardo and Vladimir Palma also had a Superior and two excellent ratings in Duet Musical, while Christine Munar of Francisco M. Sablan Middle School had an excellent and two good ratings in Monologue.

Western Pacific Region-National Forensic League president Harold Easton said all junior and senior thespians were evaluated at the same time and not divided into two separate divisions.

“Our juniors were evaluated along with the outstanding senior troupe participants from all over the nation and around the world,” added Easton.

Elizabeth Jones, in the senior thespian Solo Musical Theatre, had three Superior medals, while Marianas High School’s Rhythm ‘N Harmony won two Superior medals and one excellent rating, including two perfect scores with their performances.

Miguel Aninon, Roland Balajadia, Angela Barbo, Eden Conner, Jefferson Cunanan, Donna Galvez, Lesly Ibarra, Leonard Manuel, James Reyes, Charley Sablan, Clarisse Torio, and Rinisa Torres were the members of the CNMI’s Group Musical.

Grace Christian Academy’s Su Min Woo had two excellent ratings and one Superior medal in Monologue, while MHS students Deirdre Rosete and Kasandra Villegas went home with a Superior medal and two excellent ratings in Duet Acting, the same result earned by Chloe Salvosa and Kelvin Wolf.

The CNMI’s senior thespian technical team also had an excellent showing, with Louise Li of MHS earning three Superior medals and one perfect score in theatre marketing with Julia Malate in costume design, ending up with two Superior medals, an excellent rating, and one perfect score.

Ruoxiang Lu’s scenic designs won for him a Superior medal and two excellent ratings, the same result garnered by Kaye Ann Ovando in short film animation. The duo of Michaela Gatdula and Anjenette Jewel Cubangbang went home with two excellent and one good rating in short film documentary.

Casey Huliganga and Lance Elayda’s partnership in their short film earned a good rating, a point short of an excellent rating to round up the CNMI’s list of awardees.
