Racism

I, too, believe that racism is a part of our society. On our island, we are constantly reminded as to what our ethnicity is and whose is more superior. There is not much we can do to deter racism in our society and local communities because too much of it goes unnoticed and ignored. Disregard for these types of issues can consequently lead to many acts of violence, criticism, and bullying. In order to halt the spread of this issue, we must immediately step up at the very moment we notice the occurrence of racism. We cannot forcibly change a person’s opinions, but we, ourselves, can set an example. We must be the start to a change and be the first to realize that a person’s ethnicity or race does not matter and judge a person only by character and actions. I truly do hope that in doing so, racism will become a thing of the past.
