Senate confirms Dela Cruz to CNMI Scholarship Board
The Senate last Friday confirmed Gov. Ralph DLG Torres’ nominee to the CNMI Scholarship Board to serve her second term.
The Senate during their Friday session at the Senate chamber on Capitol Hill confirmed Torres’ nomination of Geraly Dela Cruz to the CNMI Scholarship Board for her second term.
Dela Cruz told Saipan Tribune that among others, she wishes to continue enhancing current policies as well as create new policies for the betterment of NMI students seeking a higher education.
“Our board has always worked together to ensure that all policies relative to providing financial assistance for higher education are in the best interest of our students. I plan to continue to perform in that manner,” Dela Cruz told Saipan Tribune.
With her confirmation, Dela Cruz expresses her gratitude toward the Senate for her confirmation and the governor for her appointment.
“The scholarship program is vital to our community as this is the government’s investment for the future of the CNMI. Ultimately, we would like to see our residents return home with the education they have gained and the invaluable work experience they have attained, to work here in our beautiful Commonwealth,” she said.
“Together, we can…improve our CNMI,” she continued.
The Senate during the same session confirmed three other Torres nominations, namely Barrie Toves for the Commonwealth Ports Authority board of directors representing Rota and Roy Reyes and Elizabeth Balajadia for the NMI Professional Licensing Board representing Saipan.
Only Toves was absent from the session since he reportedly had to catch a flight going back to Rota.
