The 4th Annual International Festival of Cultures will be held on Sept. 21-23, 2018, in celebration of the cultural diversity of The Marianas, with special emphasis on the indigenous cultures of Micronesia.

All culture groups in The Marianas are invited to join the next planning meeting on Friday, July 13, at 2pm at the Marianas Visitors Authority office on Beach Jose, San Jose.

This year’s festival will be condensed to a single weekend, versus several consecutive Saturdays in prior years. The event will also return to its original location at Paseo de Marianas in the main tourist district on Saipan.

“We are looking forward to another great festival this year with our various cultures, and as with all our events, we’re looking at new ideas to make it even more enjoyable than last year,” said MVA managingdDirector Christopher A. Concepcion. “With all the live entertainment, food sales, arts and crafts demonstrations and more, it’s quite a commitment on behalf of our cultural groups, so to accommodate their availability, we are condensing this year’s festival to a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. We also anticipate more visitors to be able to join the event in downtown Garapan, and the dates coincide with the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday period in our source market of China, when we anticipate an uptick in visitors.

We welcome all cultural groups to join us in being represented, even if you are a small group and can only do a few activities.”

Interested groups may submit a participation form to the MVA office in San Jose or contact MVA Community Projects coordinator Demalyn Pagarao at dpagarao@mymarianas.com or 670.664.3219 to confirm participation at Friday’s meeting or for more information. (PR)
