Matson Foundation donated $1,000 to the Palau Community College Scholarship Fund last June 25.

Palau Matson representative Wilbert Kamerang and Cornelius Eason presented the check donation to PCC president Dr. Patrick U. Tellei.

Founded in 1882, Matson has been a strong supporter of the needs of communities that utilize its services. The company began as an affiliation of Alexander & Baldwin, Inc. but became an independent public trading corporation in 2012.

Since becoming an independent company, Matson established the Matson Foundation, a charitable giving program under the company. The Matson Foundation considers all qualified non-profit organizations that could improve the business development opportunities in communities served by the company. NPOs eligible for donations from the Matson Foundation include organizations in the areas of environment and ocean resource conservation, education, energy, human services such as community health, culture & arts, and civic & community programs such as clean-ups or volunteerism. PCC would like to thank Matson Foundation for its generous donation to the college. (PR)
