Torres announces administrative leave for tomorrow
Gov. Ralph DLG Torres authorized yesterday qualified public sector employees to take an administrative leave for tomorrow in celebration of the Liberation Day festivities.
Torres, in a memorandum yesterday, authorized non-critical employees of the Commonwealth public sector to take an administrative leave tomorrow in celebration of the 73rd Annual Liberation Day Festivities.
“Liberation Day is a celebration of our progress together as one Commonwealth. For over seven decades our islands have endured remarkable challenges and transformative changes. From the closure of Camp Susupe to the signing of our Covenant with the United States to the economic progress we see today, 73 years of freedom represents our journey together to the future,” he wrote.
“We remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice and devoted their lives to the protection of our freedoms. We remember our veterans, including those who defended the Marianas in World War II. And we honor our brothers, our sisters, our sons, and our daughters in uniform who continue to defend the CNMI. We look forward to continue celebrating our cultures, our community, and our service to one another. After all, this is what makes our Commonwealth one of the most unique places in the world.”
A separate memorandum from the Governor’s Office, however, clarified that the Nutrition Assistance Program office under the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs will remain open tomorrow, June 5, to distribute benefits for certified households with last names beginning with the letters A to C from 8am to 3pm.
The memorandum further clarified that the NAP Certification Unit Office would also be open tomorrow from 8am to 6pm for recertification of household applicants and application services for new applicants.
