Green Meadow Schools students showcased their acting, dancing, and singing skills during the Campers Got Talent Season 8 held last Saturday at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center.

More than 100 students in preschool, elementary, and middle school performed in the weekend event, which was a culmination of GMS’ four-week summer camp.

Preschool students from GMS’ campus in Gualo Rai took the overall championship in their division and the Best Dance award after wowing the crowd with their traditional island dance (for girls) and the boys dancing to the tune of the Beach Boys’ hit Surfin USA in their summer outfit and make-shift surfing board. Another set of students from GMS Gualo Rai performed a skit entitled Noah and the Unicorn and drew praises from the crowd for mimicking animal sounds and wearing colorful masks.

Preschool students from the Chalan Kiya campus, on the other hand, topped the Best Bible Skit (Jonah and the Big Fish) and Interpretative Song (We are God’s Children) contests.

In the individual awards, Jewel Mabaquio and Esma Pagarao of the Gualo Rai campus were named Best Narrator and Best Dancer, respectively, while Precious Rubia got the Best Dancer award for the Chalan Kiya campus. John Aumentado and Inessa Maria Diaz bagged the Best in Song Interpretation honors for Gualo Rai and Chalan Kiya.

In the elementary and middle school department, the Native American won the overall championship against Pilgrims, Separatists, Quakers, and Strangers. Each group performed musical skits, song number, and international dance.

Individual awards were also handed in the elementary and middle school departments. Included on the list of winners were Kriselle Drilon, Best Camp Leader; Iyanah Ranin, Best Assistant Leader; Rihanna De Leon, Best Camper of the Year; Jasper Cabaobas, Most Obedient Camper; Nicola Acaba, Most Cooperative Camper; Liana Daca, Most Responsible Camper; Vimarie Alfeche, Most Diligent Camper; and Jillian Jade Concepcion, Most Dependable Camper.

“Congratulations to all the winners and all the performers for their great showmanship on stage. GMS is so proud to have talented students like you. I would also like to commend the teachers for training our students well. And of course, our parents, thank you for always supporting your children and our programs. Without your unwavering support, we will not be able to hold events like this,” GMS principal Milagros Songcuan said. (PR)
