Saolak Camacho’s Diana Camacho and Pin Busters’ Robert Talavera did it again, topping the high average contest in the 27th Philippine Bowling Association-Budweiser Monday Night League.
Talavera and Camacho, who earned the similar award in the Tuesday Night Bowling League, registered an average of 186.82 and 169.33 in 16 weeks of competition in the PBA-organized event. Talavera bested 44 other bowlers in the high average category, while Camacho prevailed against 13 others.
Camacho also won in the high scratch series with his 566 beating the 536, 522, 486, and 453 of Janice Camacho, Wrene May Alegre, Gloria Pagarao, and Brenda Rideb, respectively. Diana’s victory foiled Alegre’s sweep, as the Team Unity member topped the scratch game (221), handicap game (275) and handicap series (664).
In the scratch game, Alegre downed Janice (210) and Diana (207) and the same thing happened in the handicap game with Janice making only 242 and Diana registering 235. In the handicap series, Alegre finished ahead of Diana (653) and Pagarao (642).
With her victories in three categories and average of 154.70 (from 139) Alegre was named Most Improved Player, while J’s Restaurant’s Joven Abris took the same honors in the men’s division. Abris also had an average of 139 at the start of the tournament and finished with 150.23 to beat Bernard Paraiso and Jimmy De Guzman. Alegre, on the other hand, edged Aiko Riungel and Pagarao.
