A fire of still unknown cause engulfed three buildings in the back of the former UIC Garment Factory barracks in San Antonio yesterday afternoon. No one was reported injured in the blaze.

Initial investigation showed that the fire started in a nearby abandoned building, according to Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services acting spokesperson Bobbie Taisacan

Taisacan said they received a call from the Department of Public Safety’s 911 about the fire at 4:40pm.

DFEMS firefighters, assisted by members of the Commonwealth Ports Authority Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting, placed the blaze under control at 5:40pm.

As of 8:15pm, firefighters were still at the scene, mopping up patches of fire.

Taisacan said investigation is ongoing and that more details will be provided either Monday late at night or today, Tuesday.
