Power and water interruptions

There will be a scheduled power interruption on June 28 and June 30 and a water service interruption on June 28.

The power outage on Thursday, June 28, will occur from 9am to 1pm at the Wireless Ridge. It will affect Chanal Savana. No water well or wastewater lift station will be affected. Two power poles will be replaced.

On Saturday, June 30, the power outage from 5am to 10am will occur in Puerto Rico, affecting Sadog Tasi and first partial of Puerto Rico. The Sadog Tasi Treatment Plant will be affected but not water wells. Four power poles will be replaced.

The purpose of these power interruptions is to de-energize utility lines and allow CUC linemen the ability to replace deteriorated wooden poles with new wooden poles or with concrete poles at certain areas of the power grid. This is a continuation of CUC’s ongoing hazard mitigation project that focuses on strengthening and hardening CUC’s power distribution system through the replacement of 787 wooden poles with concrete poles. Of the 787 wooden poles to be replaced, 744 replacements have been made by CUC and its contractor.

There will be a scheduled water service interruption on Thursday, June 28, from 8am to 5pm affecting CUC’s water customers in As Terlaje, Beach Road, Chalan Pale Arnold, Gualo Rai, Kannat Tabla, Chalan Kiya, Rasmu Lane (El Toro), Chalan Tun Antonio Apa, and west side areas of As Lito (Faha Place, Bayak Drive and Aplok Drive).

CUC’s contractor, AIC Marianas, Inc., will be cutting and capping the existing 14-inch transmission line connection to the Kannat Tabla tank and replacing the existing 8-inch valve along the intersection of Kannat Tabla and Chalan Monsignor Guerrero Road fronting Mechille Corp. As a result of the new installation, a more reliable water system will be provided to the community. Regular water service hours will resume thereafter.

This is an ongoing project funded by the U.S. Protection Agency to replace the water tank at the Northern Marianas College.

Because of the scale of work that will be performed, CUC asks travelers to take alternate routes or to exercise caution when driving through the working area.
