Group organizes free health screening
More than a hundred persons from diverse ethnic groups on Saipan availed of a free health screening at the San Antonio Parish Social Hall last month.
“We have been doing these free health screenings in the CNMI for the past eight years and we are so overwhelmed by the turnout because more people are becoming aware and conscious of their health and lifestyle,” said Dr. Celia Lamkin, who chairs the groups that organized the health screening.
The health screening was organized by the National Youth Movement for the West Philippine Sea Marianas chapter, US Pinoys for Good Governance Marianas chapter, BAYANi-Bayan Bago Sarili, National Federation of Filipino American Associations CNMI Chapter, and the Asian community of the CNMI.
Those with high blood pressure measurements and blood sugar readings were advised to consult their primary physicians.
“Health is one of the important things in our lives. We should be responsible for our health and lifestyle. There may be doctors and nurses in the hospitals and clinics, but ultimately, we should be proactive in maintaining our good health,” said Ronald Lamkin, one of the volunteers.
Lamkin credited the success of the outreach to the efforts of Felisa Legaspi, Elizabeth Escobar- Mendiola, Northern Marianas College Nursing students Ruby Jean Belingon, Clarice Canarejo, Joann Villaluna and Ella May David, NMC Nursing Club president Kaiza Lucido, Lucita T. Reyes, Fanny dela Rosa, Jovy Brondo, Juan Gacayan, Edgar Gacayan, Ben Magia, Bella Magia, Jun Jun Gacayan, Diomedes Talini, Jr., Edward Agda, Jericho Santos, San Antonio Parish Church, Rev. Fr. Romil Aperocho, and John Raymond Sablan. (PR)
