The U.S. Marshal Service arrested yesterday a federal probationer who was accused of punching his wife, hitting her mouth with a beer can, and shattering the windows of her car with a beer can and rock at a beach in Chalan Kanoa.

Deputy U.S. Marshal John Vega served the arrest warrant on Edwin Peter Blas.

The U.S. District Court for the NMI issued the warrant last Thursday over the domestic violence and for consuming alcohol on June 10 and 11.

Magistrate Judge Heather L. Kennedy issued the arrest warrant at the request of U.S. Probation Office’s Gregory F. Arriola in order for Blas to explain why his supervised release should not be revoked.

Colin Thompson is the court-appointed counsel for Blas. An initial appearance/revocation hearing was set yesterday afternoon for Blas.

According to Arriola, Blas was drunk during the assault that happened last June 10 and was also intoxicated when he (Arriola) visited him at a house in Chalan Kanoa last June 11.

Blas is a registered sex offender and has previous convictions in the U.S. District Court and Superior Court.
