In addition to taking part in fun and cultural activities, participants of this year’s Project PROA summer camp will receive an opportunity to build their English and math skills to help better prepare for college.
The Project PROA summer camp is a three-week program that aims to prepare students who plan on attending the Northern Marianas College for college success and to provide them with the opportunity to strengthen their ties to their cultural heritage with various activities and field trips.
Participants of the Project PROA summer camp program will engage in morning academic sessions provided by the Community Development Institute and cultural activities in the afternoon with organizations such as 500 Sails, Carolinian Affairs Office, Department of Community and Cultural Affairs, American Memorial Park, and NMC’s Cooperative Research Extension & Education Services.
To qualify for the camp, participants must be a high school junior, senior, or recent high school graduate and self-identify as Chamorro and/or Carolinian, per grant requirements. Interested individuals must be program eligible to participate.
Participation is free with lunch and snacks provided as well.
Seats will be on a first-come, first-serve basis so interested students are encouraged submit their application or visit the PROA Center in Building G at the NMC Saipan As Terlaje campus, between 8am and 5pm.
Application forms are available online at www.marianas.edu/projectproa.php or at Project PROA in Room G1 and must be submitted no later than Friday, June 22, at 4pm. Orientation will be held on Friday, July 6, from 9am to 12pm in NMC’s As Terlaje campus on Saipan.
