When did all that gray hair start up on top
those wrinkles leave tracks of crow’s feet
that stomach expansion never seems to stop
munching on ice cream pastries and sweets.
As we get older we’re headed toward death
knees giving out meniscus cartilage and arthritis
your hike in the hills leaves you out of breath
now there’s lactose intolerance and frequent colitis.
Yet each year of aging seems better than the next
less time lost daily activities organized in a group
smart phones unnecessary no need to learn to text
no problems with hot peppers or cow foot soup.
Sure of yourself and sure of your old friends
aging like good wine you head toward the end.
