Paulino joins CWA board as Tinian rep
In efforts to strengthen their mission across the Commonwealth, the CNMI Women’s Association recently confirmed Jovita Paulino to the board of directors, representing the island of Tinian.
Paulino, who currently serves under the Mayor of Tinian, outlined key priorities regarding women on Tinian to include self-sufficiency, entrepreneurship, and mental health needs.
According to CWA president Rose Ada-Hocog, confirming Paulino is a critical step to bridging the communication gap between the island of Saipan and Tinian and pushing for the advancement of women of all ages, ethnicities, races, and social status.
CWA administrator Felicidad T. Ogomoro said that board members must demonstrate a strong sense of commitment to advancing equity and addressing the challenges and barriers CNMI women continue to face.
“CWA is strongly committed to its mission of empowering our women and helping them succeed through the programs and services we provide, which is critical to the strength of our families and our entire Commonwealth,” she said.
Dolores R. Drew, who currently serves as a board member, noted that the CNMI Women’s Association and the Women’s Affairs Office are committed to continue to advocate, guide, and light the way for the continued progress and prosperity of the CNMI.
CWA currently provides education and training opportunities, mentorship, advocacy, and information and referral services in a culturally competent and nurturing way to maximize their potential to positively impact families.
The board of directors is composed of Ada-Hocog, vice president Dolores R. Drew, secretary protem Daisy Demapan, treasurer Julie O. Manglona, and board members Erna O. Ngirchongor, Jacqueline Che, and Paulino.
Incorporated under the laws of the Commonwealth on April 13, 2011, CWA is governed by a seven-member board and collaborates with public and private organizations to deliver vital social services to the community throughout the CNMI.
The CWA is funded under the Community Services Block Grant, a U.S. sub-grant awarded by the Division of Youth Services.
