Bordallo statement on additional H-2B workers

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Delegate Madeleine Z. Bordallo (D-GU) issued the following statement on the arrival of 30 H-2B workers for PHR Corp. These workers were admitted under authorities secured by Bordallo in the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2018 to provide flexibility to admit H-2B worked to Guam for construction projects on- and off-base directly connected to or associated with the Marine realignment to Guam.

“I am encouraged that H-2B workers are beginning to arrive on Guam under authorities I secured in last year’s defense bill. This is exactly what my provision was intended to do to help alleviate our workforce shortage. The arrival of these H-2B workers is positive news, and I appreciate the One Guam effort we are making to resolve Guam’s labor challenges. I look forward to more workers coming to Guam to ease the pressure on our construction industry. I am committed to working in Congress to build on this progress and providing a broad solution that will benefit our entire civilian community outside the fence.” (PR)
