Pangelinan is Pistang Pinoy singing champ
Priscilla Pangelinan was named Pistang Pinoy’s singing competition champion last Sunday.
One of this year’s Pistang Pinoy highlights was the competition featuring the CNMI’s elderly. The only qualification to participate in the competition was to be 50 years or older.
Pangelinan won with her rendition of Celine Dion’s Think Twice.
Pangelinan said she is a newbie to the Pistang Pinoy competition, but is a veteran in performing for large crowds, as she is a regular performer at the weekly Street Market.
“I started singing back in 2013 when my son died. He was a musician and then I continued what he loved…music became my therapy…I’m doing this for my son,” she said.
As competition winner, Pangelinan won $300.
Coming in at second place was Bernie Dizon, who was awarded $200. Completing the Top 3 was Vernon Lane, who was awarded $150.
Pistang Pinoy also featured a dance competition following the singing contest. The competition was open to children, adults, and the elderly who wanted to showcase their talents and win a couple hundred dollars.
The first place winner was the dance group Little Peeps, which was awarded $500.
In second place was X-Force group, which was awarded $300; and the final winner was Reign Dance Crew, which was awarded $200.
