OIA opens grant period for coral reef initiative
WASHINGTON, D.C.—The U.S. Department of the Interior’s Office of Insular Affairs will begin accepting grant applications for the Coral Reef and Natural Resources Initiative.
The CRNR is a federal program aimed at improving the health of coral reef ecosystems and other natural resources in the U.S. insular areas.
OIA has indicated that it will prioritize projects in the insular areas that address threats to coral reef ecosystems, research on sea level rise impacts coral reefs, and applications to combat and eradicate invasive species.
Applications are open to insular government entities, educational institutions, or non-profit organizations.
The deadline for submissions through grants.gov using CFDA# 15.875 is July 6, 2018.
“The Coral Reef and Natural Resources Initiative is an important program that will help preserve our coral reefs and combat the spread of invasive species [in] Guam and in the territories,” said Delegate Madeleine Z. Bordallo (D-GU). “Each year, I am proud to join my colleagues from the territories in providing congressional appropriations for OIA to support this program and other that benefit our island and the other insular areas.
