Man allegedly strangled girlfriend, crashed her car
In a fit of jealousy, a man allegedly strangled his girlfriend inside her car and later crashed her car into a tin fence of a tire shop on Saipan last May 26.
Christopher A. Ayuyu, 26, was arrested in Koblerville Wednesday on charges of assault and battery and disturbing the peace.
A $5,000 cash bail was initially imposed on Ayuyu. He was taken before Superior Court Associate Judge Wesley Bogdan for a hearing Wednesday.
According to police, the alleged victim was crying and appeared hysterical when an officer responded last My 26, with reddening on the lower part of her right eye and right ear.
A police officer was dispatched to Dabao Tire Shop in Chalan Piao at 2:45pm last May 26, where it was reported that a car had hit the establishment’s gate and there was a domestic violence in progress.
When the officer arrived, she saw a Mazda 3 car that had a damaged front end; its lower bumper was no longer attached. The officer then met the alleged victim, who was crying inside the tire shop.
The woman complained of pain on her face and stated that Ayuyu hit her face several times.
The victim told police that Ayuyu picked her up using her car at 1:30pm from a relative’s house in Chalan Kanoa, drove her to Coral Ocean Point beach side, and parked in the jungle area. The girlfriend said she was asleep in the backseat throughout the whole ride and woke up to Ayuyu hitting her.
Ayuyu was questioning her whereabouts the night before and who was with her. He allegedly started hitting her face with his elbow as then strangled her.
The girlfriend said she almost lost consciousness as she could not breathe. Ayuyu stopped when she kept begging him to stop.
Ayuyu continued hitting her on the face, then drove her to the 999 Market next to the Dabao Tire Shop in Chalan Piao.
As Ayuyu went inside the store, the girlfriend ran to the tire shop and hid in the storage area.
She later heard a loud sound of a car hitting something. She then saw Ayuyu leave the car and shout at her, then walked away from the car. The girlfriend waited for police to arrive.
