Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan, the principal organizer for the upcoming 19th Annual Sophia Walk set for June 23, announced the prize for the Best Hat contest—a one night Ocean-view Room Stay and a Mai Teppanyaki dinner for two, valued at nearly $400.

All registered participants who will complete the event are eligible to enter the contest. “This event not only honors former first lady Sophia Tenorio, but also continues the legacy that the Marianas Walk Association started 19 years ago as a way to attract Japanese tourists to participate in an annual fun walk,” Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan general manager Wendi Herring said.

Registration is available now at Fiesta Resort & Spa, Kanoa Resort, Century Hotel, and iSHOP. Registrations can also be picked up at CHCC Gift Shop. Checks can be made payable to CHCC Volunteers Association. Early registration is $10 per person (ages 4 and over) on or before June 22 and increases to $15 per person on event day. The first 500 participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt, courtesy of the Tan Siu Lin Foundation.

Registration on June 23 opens at 6:30am with the walk starting at 7am at Fiesta beach. Participants will walk/run from towards Micro Beach, through Smiling Cove parking lot and up to the top of the Eloy S. Inos Peace Park and back. The course measures approximately six kilometers and will offer participants a raffle and refreshments plus the Best Hat award. All proceeds from the event will benefit the CHCC Volunteers Association.
