Chacha, Tanapag middle schools promote classes
The Chacha Oceanview and Tanapag middle schools held their respective promotions last May 30 at their school grounds where more than 100 students moved on to senior high school for the 2018-2019 school year.
Princess Rikki Dela Cruz Lacson was Chacha’s valedictorian and the recipient of the CNMI State Board of Education award, while Kaiana Darlene Fitial Piteg was the 2018 salutatorian aside from receiving the Public Schools System Commissioner’s Award.
Lacson also had seven academic achievement awards that included subjects of mathematics, social studies, language arts, woodshop, Chamorro, business math, and computer application.
Bethany Toni Limes Taitano earned the subject award in science, while No’elani Kioko Manibusan Romolor duplicated the feat in physical education. Ely Joseph De Guzman Taitano was the Leadership awardee.
In addressing the crowd, Lacson thanked all of her teachers and staff of Chacha. “We went through a lot as a whole and my experience here at Chacha couldn’t have any been better.”
“I couldn’t have done it without the motivation from the teachers and staff. They pushed me to go further than I could ever imagine. But most especially, my parents. Just knowing that they are proud of me brings me joy. They’ve been my No. 1 supporters.”
Piteg, meanwhile, said she’s pleased in receiving the second highest honor in their class. “[Not] in my wildest dream would I have ever thought that, throughout my years at Chacha, I would have get the chance to make it to where I am today.”
“I would be lying if I said I have achieved everything alone. Nothing would have been possible without the support of my family, teachers, and best friends. I would like to thank you all for your encouragement.”

At Tanapag, keynote speaker Ben Jones Jr. told the students that high school will be the next road they would take after completing middle school. “Don’t be afraid to make a wrong turn. Your final destination is a high school diploma.”
“Having a high school diploma will open a lot of opportunities to all of you. Nothing is more beautiful than reaching your destination. Remember this, difficult roads lead to great destinations.”
Shannea Mae Dino finished at the top of her class and also received the BOE award, while Bernalie Tina Dafrow was the salutatorian and was honored with the Commissioner of Education plaque.
Dino also earned the academic achievement awards in English language arts and social studies, while Dafrow was the Leadership awardee. Ayana Paige Sablan (CCLHS), Dasol Erin Kim (general arts), Alex Megino (school leadership) were the other recipients. Dino, Santos, and Kyla Cruz earned the computer literacy honors.
