American SinoPan wants even going for its project
American SinoPan LLC officials are looking to have its hotel project finished on time and not be stalled like others due to the ongoing CW and workforce issues the CNMI is experiencing right now.
That’s why the company is prioritizing the hiring of locals, especially those living in the surrounding area of Tanapag where its 100,029-square-meter hotel resort—Saipan Garden Resort—will be built.
Company chief engineer James Bi said they would need carpenters and general laborers. Their target date of completion of the 1,200-room hotel resort is in the middle of 2020.
They are currently working with the Northern Marianas Trades Institute to prepare their skilled workers. They are also going to hire personnel they would need for construction and the actual operations of their company
That aim—to hire locally—is why ASP LLC will hold a job fair for two Saturdays starting tomorrow, June 2, and June 9 at the Tanapag Social Hall in front of the Santa Remedios Parish Church in Tanapag from 9am to 3pm.
Lin said there are 62 positions that are readily available both for short- and long-term employment with their company. “We know there’s a current shortage of laborers. As much as possible we want to hire residents.”
“That’s why I’m asking everybody from Tanapag and the entire island to come. It’s going to be a big project and we’re going to require a lot of people with different skills.”
Li said construction jobs and the building of their property are the short-term positions that would be available while they would next hire for hotel operations and management level positions.
Bi, whose been in the construction business for almost 30 years, said they need the local community. “We need to grow up with them.”
They plan to invest more in the training and education of the people of Tanapag in order to build a future workforce for the CNMI. “That’s why we are also emphasizing the value of schools. When they graduate, they can work with us.”
Lin added, “We really want to get the right people. Any development operation is a long-term process.”
