With the Oceania Micronesian Regional Championships 2018 just around the corner, Triple J Saipan has stepped up to the plate, joining the growing list of generous supporters of the competition.
Triple J Saipan through Hertz Rent A Car, Surfrider Resort Hotel, and Surf Club will be providing assistance to athletes and officials participating in the June 14 to 16 event at the Oleai Sports Complex track and field facility.
Hertz and Triple J Rentals Micronesian general manager Alex Camacho said they will offer discounted rates to visiting athletes, who will also get affordable accommodations at Surfrider Resort Hotel. Ray Tebuteb, president of the Northern Marianas Athletics, which is organizing the three-day tournament, added that Surf Club will host the welcome reception for visiting athletes and officials.
Nearly 200 individuals from Palau, Guam, the Federates States of Micronesia, Marshall Islands, Kiribati, and Nauru will be on island to participate in the regional meet, which will serve as preview to the 2018 Micronesian Games in Yap in July.
“We are very thankful to Triple J Saipan for their support. We would not be able to host a big event like this without the support of generous companies like Triple J and the CNMI government,” Tebuteb said.
“We are excited with the competition ahead as this will give us a peek on what to expect in the Micro Games in Yap. Let us support not only our athletes, but the rest of the competitors in the tournament,” the NMA head added.
Camacho echoed Tebuteb’s call, saying that the community should give their warmest welcome to the visitors. He added that Triple J Saipan has been a consistent supporter of activities in the community, including sports competitions.
“Come out during the tournament and cheer for all the athletes,” Camacho said. (Saipan Tribune)
