Ol’Aces Real Deal hammers 670 Sonics XVII

The Ol’Aces Real Deal crushed the 670 Sonics XVII, 75-45, in the boys U18 division game in the 2018 Frank M. Diaz Memorial Youth League yesterday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.
Four Ol’Aces players scored in double figures to notch the easy win. K.J. Kabiriel led the way for the unbeaten Ol’Aces Real Deal after firing 19 points, while Coby Santos added 17, and N-nes Siech and Dean Blake added 16 and 13, respectively.
A 26-12 scoring in the first quarter helped the Ol’Aces Real Deal set up the lopsided victory. Kabiriel anchored the winning team’s strong start after drilling 9 points in the opening quarter.
Santos, Blake, and Siech then stepped up in the remaining three periods to whip the hapless 670 Sonics XVII. Blake had a string of 6 points in the second quarter and Santos added 8 in that period, while Siech also tallied 6 straight points in the third canto. Kabiriel then finished what he started, recording 7 of the Ol’Aces Real Deal’s last 9 markers.
Royce Ben and Paulo Cadag made 10 points each on a losing effort for the 670 Sonics XVII.
Meanwhile, the 670 Sonics XVI edged the NMI Rollers in last Tuesday’s game, 54-51.
The 670 Sonics XVI built an early double-digit lead in the first quarter and gained enough cushion in the third to withstand the NMI Rollers’ rally in the fourth.
The winning squad established a 17-6 advantage after the first period, as it held the NMI Rollers to three field goals in the opening canto. The 670 Sonics XVI then padded the lead in the second, 33-18, and third periods, 45-30, before the NMI Rollers fought back in the fourth, but fell short.
