Consular outreach caters to over 400 Filipinos
The Philippine Consulate General in Agana, Guam returned to Saipan for a consular outreach from May 21 to May 23 at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe, with the aim of providing services to over 400 CNMI-residing Filipinos with passport related needs.
According to Philippine Consul Mark Hamoy, prior to their arrival in the CNMI, Filipinos interested in renewing their passports were required to register first at the office of the honorary Philippine consul to the CNMI, Eli Arago. A total of 420 signed up for passport renewals on Saipan alone.
Hamoy said that because of the minimal amount of no-shows, the outreach was able to take on over 200 cases in the past two days in terms of passport renewals.
Today is the last day for Filipinos to avail of all consular services such as passport renewals, passport pick-up, civil registration, reports of birth, reports of death, reports of marriage, etc.
Hamoy also wants to emphasize that Filipino citizens interested in voting in the next Philippine election should register as soon as possible.
“I would like to remind our nationals here who still haven’t registered to register during this time because this is the second to the last consular outreach before the overseas registration period ends on Sept. 30, 2018,” he said.
The consular outreach is currently being held at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center from 8am to 4pm. Excluding passport renewals, all other consular services are available without prior registration.
Hamoy said the community should expect three more consular missions for the rest of the year. Hamoy is urging Filipino nationals to register first with Arago’s office in terms of passport renewals before the next outreach.
