A man allegedly punched his girlfriend in the face and kicked her on the head in Koblerville last Saturday night.

Lando P. Towai, 27, was arrested for assault and battery and disturbing the peace.

A bail of $10,000 cash was set Monday for Towai; preliminary hearing is on May 31 at 1:30pm.

Chief Public Defender Douglas Hartig was appointed as counsel for Towai. Assistant attorney general Frances Demapan is prosecuting the case.

Police officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a home in Tinaktak Drive in Koblerville Saturday night.

The victim told the officers that her boyfriend, Towai, punched and kicked her after an altercation over her past boyfriend. The victim told police that Towai already appeared drunk when he came home from work at 5pm.

She said she slapped Towai on the chest once. He got mad and was about to grab her. The victim ran and hid behind Towai’s aunt for protection. Towai chased and allegedly punched the victim thrice on the face, knocking her to the floor.

Towai walked to the bedroom, came back, and allegedly kicked the victim on the head as she was lying on the floor.
