Agape, Koblerville triumph in All Schools

As expected, Koblerville Elementary School smoked its competitors, while Agape Christian School also did very well in the overall rankings in the 2018 Public School System/McDonald’s All Schools Track and Field Championships.

After compiling the results of the running, throwing, and jumping events in the meet that ran from May 9 to 12 at the Oleai Sports Complex oval, KES emerged on top of five divisions. The Umang had a sweep in the U8 age group, while Mt. Carmel School and Agape rounded out the Top 3 in the boys field and Tinian Elementary School and Saipan International School joined KES in the podium in the girls division.

In the boys U9, Tinian Elementary School placed first overall and was followed by William S. Reyes Elementary Scholl and KES. KES ruled the girls U9, while Agape and WSR came in at second and third, respectively.

In the U11 age group, KES again had a sweep with WSR and San Vicente Elementary School completing the Top 3 in the boys division. In the girls field, Koblerville placed ahead of Brilliant Star Schoool and San Vicente.

In the middle school division, Agape ruled the girls U13, while Tinian Junior and Senior High School was ranked second and Hopwood Middle School came in at third. In the boys U13, Hopwood took the No. 1 spot, while Agape and Tinian finished second and third, respectively.

Agape notched two more first place finishes when the Torchbearers prevailed in the girls and boys U15 divisions. Agape won over Tinian and Saipan International School in the boys division and versus Dandan Middle School and Hopwood in the girls.

Agape, with a lot of its students earning slots to the tournament proper, then upset Saipan Southern High School and Marianas High School in the boys U18. In the girls U18, MHS led the way, beating SIS, Agape, and Saipan Southern.

The rankings of each school were based on how their students finished in their respective events. Points were awarded to each student that qualified in the run races, discus, javelin, and softball throws, and long jump.

The organizing Northern Marianas Athletics is requesting the Top 3 schools in each age group to pick up their medals and trophies at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium from 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. NMA has also selected the top individual performers in each division and they will be recognized in a brief awards ceremony at McDonald’s Middle Road on Monday at 3:30pm.
