Reaching out to diving enthusiasts throughout Europe, the Marianas Visitors Authority recently welcomed representatives of 11 European dive media outlets for a tour of Rota and Saipan.

The familiarization tour was coordinated through the MVA’s representative office in South Korea, which has branches throughout Europe.

“Although the number of traditional visitors we receive from Europe is very small, divers are a niche market that will travel great distances for a great diving experience. That’s something the Marianas has to offer,” said MVA marketing manager Broc Calvo. “Thanks to this excellent opportunity captured by our Korea office, European divers will now have the chance to know about and choose the Marianas their next destination.”

In addition to diving several iconic sites, such as Grotto, the group visited various sites and attractions on the two islands. A bike adventure including buffet lunch, snorkeling, and spa was experienced with Marianas Trekking and a tour of scenic and historic sites in the northern Marpi area of Saipan was conducted. The group attended a cultural dinner show at Fiesta Resort & Spa and took a UTV tour to Mt. Tapochau with Let’s Go Tour. Dinner was also enjoyed at Surf Club,

Naked Fish Bar & Grill, and a sunset dinner cruise. T Galleria Saipan, I Love Saipan, and other shopping venues were also visited.

Participating media were Nature Plongée, Oceane, Subocea, Spot My Dive, Pongez!, Plongée TV, SONO TUR (DiveFanClub), AYISIGI DIVING & TRAVEL, Absolut Scuba, Reisecenter Federsee, and Pacific Travel House. (MVA)
