CAO community report meeting

NMC graduation will stream live
Family and friends who are off-island or who are not able to attend the Northern Marianas College’s 38th Commencement Exercise on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at the Marianas High School Gymnasium in person can watch the event live online on NMC’s Facebook page. The ceremony will be streamed live at https://www.facebook.com/NMC.Proa. The live stream will begin at approximately 4pm (Chamorro Standard Time) on Saturday, May 19, and will end at about 6:30pm. OVR closed half-day on Thursday
The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation office will be closed on Thursday, May 17, 2018, from 7:30am to 12:30pm. There will be a disruption in power services as CUC will be replacing power poles in the vicinity during these times. The office will be open at its regular afternoon hours from 12:30pm to 4:30pm. Memorial Day proclamation signing
The Office of the Governor’s CNMI Military Veterans Affairs Office would like to invite all military members, families, and the public to a proclamation signing on May 21, 2018, at 9am, at the Office of the Governor conference room for the celebration of Memorial Week on May 21-28 and Memorial Day on Monday, May 28, 2018, 9am, at the Veterans Cemetery in Marpi. This is to inform all parents, guardians, and the community that the Kagman cluster of schools will be having a Parents Teachers Students Association meeting on Thursday, May 17, 2018, starting at 5:30pm in the ChaCha Oceanview Middle School cafeteria. Military training at Warning Area 517
ASAN, Guam—The U.S. military will conduct training at Warning Area 517 (W-517) until today, May 16, from 9am to 10pm. It is recommended the public, fishermen and marine tour operators monitor the Coast Guard broadcast notice to mariners for advisories. W-517 begins south of Guam and extends south-southwest in international waters. Santa Rosa Reef and Galvez Banks are open for public use. W-517 supports surface and aerial gunnery, missiles, and laser exercises. (PR)
Nominees sought for MINA’s Green Awards
The Micronesia Islands Nature Alliance is seeking nominations for this year’s Green Award for presentation at the annual Green Gala event slated for Sept. 14, 2018. The deadline for submission of nominees is June 1, 2018. Awards are given in the following categories, and nominations will be accepted from Saipan, Tinian, and Rota: Environmental Champion Award, Environmental Heroes Award, Green Business of the Year.
