MVA launches safety outreach via car rental companies
To reach more visitors with information on how to have a safe visit in the Marianas, the Marianas Visitors Authority is reaching out to car rental companies to help.
In April 2018, the MVA began visiting car rental companies to deliver multi-language videos on driving safety, personal safety, and marine protected areas in the Marianas.
“To help ensure our visitors have a safe and enjoyable experience during their visit, we are asking car rental companies to share these videos with their customers, said MVA tour guide certification manager Kuen-Hee Han. “So far, most of the companies have responded very positively to partner with us and pass on this information to their customers. At the same time, we have had the opportunity to hear companies’ suggestions and concerns regarding the industry, so it’s proving to be a very fruitful initiative.”
Companies that have expressed willingness to share the videos with their customers are ABC Rent-a-Car & Leasing, Islander, Thrifty, Alamo/National, Budget, Hertz, QQ Rental Car, Sangjee Rental Car, Monster, Micronesia Car Rental, LEI Car Rental, although some companies may still need to receive approval from national headquarters.
“We encourage all companies interested in sharing these downloadable videos to contact the MVA,” said Han. “In the meantime, we aim to visit all remaining car rental companies in the coming weeks.”
Han added that all the companies she visited have road safety books published by the Bureau of Motor Vehicles for every car they rent. The MVA’s safety videos also air on The Visitors Channel in English, Korea, Chinese, Japanese, and Russia. (MVA)
