IPI workforce continues to dwindle
Imperial Pacific International (CNMI) LLC continues to report a downward trend in its number of workers for the past eight months, with a report to the Commonwealth Casino Commission about its employee headcount plunging.
Right now, its employee number is at its lowest within a 12-month period, based on the report of IPI human resources.
The downward trend started when IPI HR reported a headcount of 1,857 in August 2017. The month before, it had 1,870.
The headcount dipped to 1,503 in March 2018, a massive 23.55-percent loss of employees from an initial listing of 1,857 in August 2017.
Of the 1,503 remaining employees in March 2018, IPI reported that 44 percent of them, or 536, are U.S.-eligible workers while 91 are U.S. permanent residents, and 31 workers are employed through the Compact of Free Association agreement for the Freely Associated States.
The remaining 56 percent of non-U.S. workers is composed largely of CW-1 permit holders at 749 employees, while 19 have H1-B visas, five E3 visas, and 72 employees with Employment Authorization Documents.
March 2018 also saw the highest numbers of separations from IPI and the highest number of new hires. Separations include those employees who have been fired, has resigned, or got their permits denied.
IPI reported a total of 51 separations from IPI, while there were 23 new hires, solely in the month of March. February noted 45 separations and 21 new hires; January noted 47 separations and 21 new hires; and December 2017 noted 45 separations and only 5 new hires.
March 2018 also boasted a modest number of promotions at 19 while only two employees transferred departments. February noted three promotions and one transfer; January noted 25 promotions and 14 transfers; and December 2017 noted 48 promotions and only two transfers.
