NAP extends hours, hikes maximum benefits
Effective May 1, 2018, the Nutrition Assistance Program will extend hours of operation for its Certification Unit from 8am to 6pm, Mondays through Fridays, with the exception of holidays.
The extension of work hours is meant to help working households who may not be able to avail of NAP application services because their daily work schedule ends after the NAP closes its business hours. This extension may help alleviate the burden on workers and employers from having to constantly adjust work schedules because workers need to take time off from work in order to apply for assistance or to report to the NAP office to further meet eligibility requirements.
Additionally, other households or non-working households may also avail of the extended hours, especially for households who rely on transportation from family members or from friends who are working to transport them to the NAP office.
Additionally, effective May 1, 2018, the maximum benefit allotments for Saipan, Tinian, and Rota/Northern Islands will be increased. Table shows the approved levels for the CNMI effective May 1, 2018, and in comparison, to Guam’s fiscal year 2018 approved levels.
The Certification Unit is the entity under the NAP office responsible to receive and determine eligibility on nutrition assistance applications. The Certification Unit is located on the ground floor of the NAP office at the JTV Building in As Lito.
