Hopwood NJHS inducts 21 new members

The National Junior Honour Society of Admiral Herbert G. Hopwood Middle School inducted a batch of 21 students last Saturday.

Over the weekend, the NJHS club welcomed 21 new members into the prestigious academic club. The new batch of honor students was inducted at the Grandvrio Hotel Saipan.

According to NJHS club president Janalene Imperial, to become a member of the NJHS is truly an honour for many students in middle school as well as in high school.

The requirements to get into the NJHS are based on a student’s academics, their personality, and their passion to help the community.

“It is based on your grades. You can not have a ‘C’ honour and your reading and your math needs to be at level or higher,” she said.

“When you get into NJHS, it’s an amazing feeling because, again, it is one of the most prestigious clubs to be in. It makes you feel like ‘oh wow, I’m part of something so special and not everyone can get into this’ so it’s nice,” she added.

Imperial said that she is proud to welcome the next batch of inductees before she is promoted to high school where she will also join the National Honour Society.

According to Rizalina Liwag, Admiral Herbert G. Hopwood Middle School principal, she and the staff of Hopwood are very proud of the newly inducted students. “They know that we have expectations of them, so we wish that they will continue to excel not just in their academics but also…in the skills they need to become college and career ready,” she said.

Liwag’s advice for the newly inducted students is for them to never lose sight of the responsibilities they now must uphold as members of NJHS.

“My message to the new members is for them to really be responsible and embrace the five pillars of the organization [scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship] and contribute to the society and to the nation,” she said.

The students inducted last Saturday were Ma. Yvonne Abustan, Anthony John Bergnacia, Patricia Ann Castillon, Esperanza Castro, Keghani Chaparian, Rownel Jody Coloma, Nina Nicole David, Ailynn Galvan, Naveen Lucenara, Lizzie Joy Manabat, Jane Nicole Mozunder, Edgardo Palma Jr., Kina Neisuupi Rangamar, Casandra Bhel Roque, Ethan James Sablan, Bonnie Mar Sagana, Jzi Caniel Santomin, Jan Mikaela Tanate, Diana Rose Tupas, Nicole Ann Villgomez, and Pauline Shaine Viray.
