Sports fundraiser set Saturday
The inaugural Sports Fundraiser is set this Saturday, May 5, from 8am to 2pm at the Garapan Roundhouse with all local federations aiming to raise money that would help their respective projects and programs.
Most of the sports federations would use the event, organized by the CNMI Weightlifting Federation, to earn funds for their participation to the 9th Micronesian Games that will be held in Yap from July 15 to 27.
Spaces are provided for each federation and they can have their own gimmick to attract potential donors and sponsors or sell various items that would help them in their fundraising efforts.
The CNMI Weightlifting Federation collected $20 fees for the space or $25 for space with tables from each of the sports federations that joined the event. The weightlifting group also eyes to raise funds for its national team that will be competing in Yap. Pacific Mini Games bronze medalist Angel San Nicolas leads the squad, which also has Joey Tudela, Rodrigo Ada, Bonny Cruz, and Antonette Labausa as members.
Meanwhile, the fundraiser wanted to focus on gifts for Mother’s Day, but won’t be limited for the said occasion. Local artists are also invited to participate.
