SAN JOSE, Tinian—Tinian Mayor Joey Patrick San Nicolas signed a proclamation at the Tinian Public Library on April 9, 2018 officially declaring the week of April 9-13, 2018, National Library Week.
This year’s National Library Week marks the 60th anniversary since its first event in 1958 and is sponsored by the American Library Association.
In his remarks, San Nicolas said the Tinian community have “a serene place to go…to gain more knowledge by reading books the library has available. …In 2005, it was through the leadership of our then mayor, now our senator, Francisco M. Borja, who made this all possible.”
The Tinian Public Library, through the Tinian Mayor’s Office, received exterior painting, parking lot and sign painting, and murals along the walls leading to the entrance. These murals highlight children and/or young adults investing time in reading.
Completion of this project is expected after the annual San Jose Fiesta, set to take place this May 4-6, 2018. (PR)
