TanHoldings Football Club-1 and Kanoa FC tightened their grip to the top spot in their respective divisions after getting another win in the 2018 NMIFA Spring Youth League last Saturday.

TanHoldings-1 nipped MP United, 5-4, in the co-ed U13 division match at the Hopwood Middle School Field to improve to a 7-0-1 record—two victories ahead of its victim, which fell to a 5-1-2 card. Kanoa-1 (5-1-2), Matansa (4-0-4), Kanoa-2 (2-0-6), and TanHoldings-2 (0-0-8) complete the team standings in the division, which has two playing weekends left.

Mark Joseph Roque delivered three goals in TanHoldings’ close win, including the go-ahead in the 59th minute or seven minutes after Evan Mendiola tied the match. Roque’s two other goals were made in the eighth and 16th minute, while Anthony John Bergancia added a pair. Mendiola also had a hat trick for MP United, tallying his two other goals in the 26th and 27th minute. Andrew Chung recorded the other goal for the losing squad.

In other results, Kanoa-1 defeated Matansa, 7-4.

Jim Kurt Maniago lifted Kanoa-1 to its fifth win in eight games after making three goals. Joe Emil Antonio contributed a brace, while Leland Deleon Guerrero and Andrew Sablan logged one goal each. Jose Rafael Lopez had three goals for Matansa, while Chanyang Woo chipped in one.

It was double celebration for Kanoa, as Kanoa-2 downed TanHoldings-2, 6-3.
Markus Pelisamen drilled the first three goals for Kanoa, while Tyler Omelau also had three straight to hand their team its second victory. Eros Estolas had a pair for TanHoldings-2, while Bonifacio Tuazon, Jr. recorded one.

BOYS U15 DIVISION
Kanoa 2, Matansa 0

Kanoa also triumphed in the first boys U15 division match at the Koblerville Elementary School Field to keep the No. 1 spot in the group.

Merrick Toves and Ian Karl Maniago scored for Kanoa, which now has a 7-2-0 mark with one game to go in the double round-robin season. Kanoa will face Paire this Saturday and the former needs at least a draw to secure the championship.

MP United 3, TanHoldings 0
MP United improved to a 6-2-1 mark after edging TanHoldings (4-1-4).

Rintaro Miyawaki posted all three goals for MP United, which must beat Matansa this Saturday and hopes that Paire upsets Kanoa to force a playoff for the division crown.

Paire 5, Shirley’s 1
Paire notched its second win this season after easing past Shirley’s.

Kaden Church towed Paire to the victory, making all of his team’s five goals, while Hassan Rakib delivered the lone goal for Shirley’s, which has only one win to show in nine games. Shirley’s will close out its campaign this weekend against TanHoldings.
