Young ladies interested in being a part of the 2018 Liberation Day Royal Court have a few extra days to submit their applications.

The 2018 Liberation Day Committee has extended the deadline for 2018 Liberation Day Royal Court to April 23.

“We are encouraging all eligible applicants who are looking to be actively involved in the community to apply for this year’s 2018 CNMI Liberation Day Royal Court,” said Royal Court Committee chair Monique Sablan.

Applications are now available at the Saipan Mayor’s Office website at www.saipanmayor.net under “Liberation Day Festivities” tab. If you are having trouble submitting your application, email nmiliberation@gmail.com. All applications can be turned into the Saipan Mayor’s Office or via email.

Young females from the ages of 14 to 22 years old are encouraged to join.

“Being a part of the 2017 Liberation Day Royal Court journey is something that I will always remember and cherish. It provided me a chance to celebrate our culture and give back to our community. The experience was very rewarding and I am grateful to have had this opportunity,” said 2017 Liberation Day Queen Peyton Gomez. “I will be playing an active role this year with the planning of 2018 Liberation Day Royal Court and we have a lot of activities in store. I hope to see this year’s new candidates having the same drive and excitement that I had when I was running last year. I highly recommend all young ladies to take part of this great opportunity.”

The 2018 Liberation Day Royal Court contestant criteria is 14-22 years old female, not married, no children, a CNMI resident for at least six months, good academic standing, and of good moral and ethical character.

Each candidate will have the ability to sell Liberation Day raffle tickets to raise funds and host other approved fundraisers. Twenty percent of each of the candidates’ total fundraising proceeds will go to the candidate.

The 2018 Liberation Day Committee is preparing the official raffle tickets with a $10,000 grand prize and other smaller prizes that will be released by the third week of April, along with the deadline for contestants to sign up for the 2018 Liberation Day Royal Court competition. The Liberation Day Royal Court titleholders are determined by the amount of money each candidate raises through the sale of raffle tickets.
