Saipan Cares continues adoption outreach

Saipan Cares for Animals continues to reach out to the community in hopes to give the animals under their care “forever homes.” In its latest effort to promote pet adoption, Saipan Cares for Animals set up an adoption booth at the 32nd American Red Cross Walkathon of the American Red Cross NMI Chapter. It was Saipan Cares for Animals’ first time to participate in the walkathon. The Red Cross invited the group to set up a booth.

Although Saipan Cares for Animals was not able to get the animals adopted at the walkathon, volunteers were able to hand out business cards to many community members as well as have the animals interact with the community.

According to Saipan Cares for Animals volunteer Kim Cody, the walkathon is only one of the other places they hold adoption outreaches. Aside from the walkathon, Saipan Cares for Animals also sets up an adoption booth at the Joeten Superstore every Saturday.

It is through outreaches like the walkathon that the animals under the custody of Saipan Cares for Animals are showcased and a huge amount of community members are able to interact with the animals, Cody said.

The process of adopting a dog or cat with Saipan Cares for Animals is not a long one. After the completion of an adoption form along with a $30 to $75 adoption fee (which includes vaccinations, de-worming, and spay/neutering), the family can immediately take home the dog or cat.

There are currently over 15 dogs and about 20 cats of all breeds and ages at the Saipan Cares for Animals shelter.

Cody is urging the community to check out the animals under Saipan Cares for Animals’ custody because they are sweet and loving animals that are in need of a family.

Cody said the dogs and cats under their custody are friendly and have received one-on-one time with volunteers to ensure that they are safe around families and children.

For those interested in adopting a cat or dog with the Saipan Cares for Animals, contact the shelter at 285-5448 or visit them every Saturday at the Joeten Superstore to meet a few of the animals.
